Potential PhD Research Projects DBMS

My current research interest is ICTs and Social Inclusion, with a particular focus on the impact of ICTs on developing countries. ICTs have a critical role to play in increasing human and social capital and lifting people out of poverty. I am also interested in how Web 2.0 technologies can foster social inclusion, for instance how Facebook can support diverse communities.

I am also interested in sustainable or ‘green’ ICTs, given that ICTs can both play a role in creating environmental monitoring systems and that they also create ‘e-waste’. Potential projects include information systems for environmental monitoring, and green supply chains.

This list of projects is not exhaustive - I am happy to talk to potential candidates about other projects in these areas. More information about my research can be found at http://www.business.mmu.ac.uk/staff/staffdetails?uref=430

Please follow the directions on the doctoral website when making a formal application.
