PhD Opportunities in Business & Management

Our research activity in Business and Management reflects our international outlook.  The Doctoral Programme at MMUBS is recognised as a ‘pocket of excellence’ in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise. There are over 65 PhD candidates in the school with diverse interests in a thriving community.

All candidates follow our Research Degree Training Programme which provides good grounding in principles of research design, quantitative and qualitative methods, philosophy of knowledge, systematic & critical literature reviews, and specialist methods.

Advanced Research Training is offered both in the school and through the ESRC Northern Advanced Research Training Initiative (NARTI). Doctoral students have opportunities to engage with a wider doctoral community through our links with NARTI  and EDAMBA Research Summer School. Our research students come from all parts of the world. We have excellent facilities to support research students.

Specific entry qualifications:

  • A masters degree in a business and management discipline
  • International applicants must achieve IELTS at level 7 in academic reading and writing.
